Position: Ruby On Rails Developer/Ember CLI Software Engineer

Position Overview

Decision Resources Group (DRG) is a leading consulting and market research firm that offers best-in-class, high-value information, and data-driven insights on important sectors of the healthcare industry. We offer a broad range of research and analytical services that incorporate both quantitative and qualitative techniques to solve client issues. Our client base includes a wide range of pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies.

The Software Engineer is responsible for developing new data driven, web-based applications using Ruby on Rails and Ember CLI. Position is based in either our Burlington or Toronto offices with the opportunity to work remotely up to 50%.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and develop web functionality using Ruby on Rails, Ember CLI Javascript framework, and data charting and visualization libraries
  • Build backend scripts for data processing with Postgres,
  • Contribute clean, maintainable code to the products, ensure all code is properly tested
  • Collaborate with US-based developers and project leadership Participate in an Agile development process
  • Analyze specifications, and assist with eliciting and documenting requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

    • Qualifications

      • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related discipline is required
      • Minimum 3 years of experience in web development including Ruby on Rails development
      • Prior experience in data driven analytics applications preferred
      • Knowledge of AWS environment and product suite
      • HTML5/CSS3/Sass/JavaScript/Ajax/Bootstrap
      • Strong database skills in SQL and NoSQL structures (Postgres is desirable)
      • Experience with Agile development methodology
      • Prior experience working in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry is a plus
      • Must have excellent communication skills, time management stills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team
